Why you should go: TYF is based in the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park – not that you’ll have much time to observe the wildlife, what with all the cliff-climbing and water action. ‘When it gets rougher, hold on to your hats,’ the organisers warn. ‘It can be a rollercoaster ride!’

Why you should go: Ever wondered what it’s like being a Marine? Wonder no longer: Cornwall-based Fremington Adventure Centre now offers hardcore coasteering courses run by ex-military types. The four-hour course includes transport by inflatable, sea cave swimming and cliff ascent.
