Why you should go:
Head for Tullan Strand to see some of the best tow-surfers in Ireland. Last winter, periods of low pressure made for exceptionally big waves – some recorded up to 55 feet high.

Why you should go: This world-famous big-wave spot near the village of Princeton-by-the-Sea in northern California has been a mecca for the world’s most skilled big wave surfers for many years.

Tow-surfing: APT World Tour Tow-Surfing Circuit

Month: November 2008 (until February 2009)
Where: Nazare or Cabo Razo, Portugal
Why you should go: This event could tale place any time between November and February. The world’s elite in tow-surfing will congregate on Portugal’s Atlantic coast for this APT world event, so expect some death-defying shredding. Bear in mind that tow-surfing events have a three to six-month holding period so they can coincide with the best surfing conditions, which means the date could change at the last minute.

Where: Peahi, Hawaii, USA
Why you should go: Hawaii is the birthplace of tow-surfing so it’s the perfect venue to see the elite in action. Again, the holding period applies so the date of this event could change at a moment’s notice.
